Quill - yes it was simpler in the old days. Teens have so many resources at their fingertips. I wonder what I would have done with all that as a youngster. Thanks for stopping by - always great to hear from you.
Thanks I book marked this site.
Great advise for teens, and a comprehensive overview of sites for teens, thumb up...
ALMOST makes me wish my kids were teens again - not quite but almost...ha ha - is it cool to add sites because someone on HP told me you could only post 2 outgoing connections or links to websites so that's what I've been doing? Not to HP hooks, but outside ones. I think I never get the same story twice on advice though.....great info! I'll not go looking for any teens though - not just yet as I'm enjoying the empty nest!
Hi - It's just me - thanks for reading.
Darlene - always great to see you.
akirchner - I love teens - it's a difficult and awkward period of life. I just wish I had all this when I was a teen. As far as links - I've only been flagged when I put more than one link to the same destination. I believe posting links to your own websites is the problem. Thanks for stopping by.
some great info here!!
Great hub I am bookmarking this for my teenage son. He will love the science website.
With all the trouble teens get into just online this is a very neccesary hub, suzie! I am so glad you did such thorough research on it. Teens need better alternatives and you presented a great compromise. A solution that both teens and their parents will hopefully appreciate. Excellent job!

Appreciate the comment, romper.
You may have just saved my life- or at least my reputation with my two teenage great-grandkids who will be here in the morning, coming from Indiana with thier Mom (my eldest granddaughter). Normally I could think of things to keep them interested - and they're pretty creative and self-sufficient - but here they are on my turf which limits their access to things. But they will have their electronics so perhaps they'll find things on your list to do!
At the moment i'm recuperating from shingles, have developed a sitting disorder (don't ask - just use your imagination! I've been spending time recuperating! LOL) so that it's painful to sit or ride in a car and I wear out quickly when standing or moving around very much.
And just found my car won't start - think it's a dead battery but have to get car care folks out to tend to it in the morning. But at least that may be well timed because Carla will have a rental car and be here till Tuesday!
SO - this hub will help me! I'm in your debt!!!
Nellieanna - I hope you are feeling better soon.
This is really cool. They can't afford to be bored. I Tweet a lot of stuff to Teens and will be Tweeting this a lot over the next few weeks.
Best Wishes.

Teens today are lucky! Having those gadgets (cellphones, laptops, ipods, psp's) at an early age well sometimes it helps them learn new things. But during our time when we don't have those cool gadgets, i remember i used to see my friends and we play outside. Well I guess that's fun after all! Good hub. thanks!
Very informative hub for parents and teens. This is a great article for teens during the summer months. Voted Up & Rated Useful!

Great hub!

simple list with powerful websites
i ejoy this site, when i look for sites for teenagers their usualy not acceptable
For homework help for middleschool, BrainPop is very good as an introduction or review of a topic. For those learning French, the French site is still ALL free because it´s a beta version. My 11 and 13-year olds like BrainPop and it´s helped us all improve our English and French. (we´re Mexican), and could help you improve your Spanish. There are also sites in Chinese and Hebrew, a UK site and BrainPop Junior for K-3. It´s worth susbscribing.
Gr8 1
I bookmarked your hub to visit your suggested sites in spare time. Anyway, the smiling boy pic is very funny LOL. Thanks for sharing this.
I bookmarked it because i found a lot of great info!!!
Very nice information, Suziecat. I admit I was looking for sites for young adults (18-25 range) but I'm definatly going to suggest some of these sites to my younger sister.
If I could maybe inform people of another site for teens aged 13+? It's called "Neuro Galaxy", and the people there are very friendly. They also have monthly events, celebrate all the major holidays by having contests around the site, and the admins and assistant admins socialise with the site's users.
I spent a lot of time on that site a few years ago, and I loved it. Just to mention: there are some older people there (in their early to mid twenties) but they're all very nice and everyone treats each other as a friend. There's a great atmosphere of equality.
It's a nice place to go if you're just looking to have a casual chat with someone and relax for a while. Also, if you don't want to socialise, there's still lots to do: you can collect items, adopt and train a pet, play games, etc.
I'd definatly recommend it to anyone aged around 15 years old.
I was looking for some great teen sites and your hub was very helpful in doing that. Tweeted.
