Surfing the internet is an amazing experience. The endless websites are to a web surfer what a toy store is to a kid. Some sites stand out, not only for their professionalism and appearance but for the useful information they give. Others are just plain fun. Here are a few awesome sites I've run across through the years and visit often. I hope you will want to as well.
1) GasBuddy.com
With the unstable price of gas, it's always nice to know ahead of time where the best prices in your city are. GasBuddy keeps an active list of gas prices in every U.S. state and Canada. They offer historical price charts for your information as well as fuel saving tips.
2) Intellicast.com
Here's a great traffic site as well as a weather site. It offers up-to-date incident reports and road construction in your area. They have weather alerts and storm warnings. Intellicast.com also offers a trip planner to let you know about flights at your nearest airport.

3) Earthcam.com
The EarthCam Network offers live streaming cams of places like Boston, Niagra Falls, Miami and many places around the world. See things as they really are in live time. You can also watch a panda bear at the zoo. Great site to prowl around in.
4) Hodar.com
This website offers observatory weather, radar maps, investing news and history, city live cams and many other wonderful things. It is a professional site with information on terrorists threat levels, where earthquakes have occurred and more. A must visit.
5) USGS.gov
A government website that calls itself "your source for science you can use". And it is. Covering everything from geology to biology to geography, this site is interesting as well as informative.
6) Google Earth
At earth.google.com, you can fly anywhere on earth to view satellite imagery, maps and terrains. This well-known sight is one of the most awesome on the net.
7) NASA.gov
This NASA site offers images, videos and the science of space. It includes an interactive feature where you can be part of space exploration. Very user-friendly and informational.
8)Govdeals.com
GovDeals is the place where government agencies across America sell surplus and confiscated items on the internet. You can search for items near you by typing in your zip code. There really are some great deals to be had here from file cabinets to tractors to cars to jewelry. Check it out.

9) NationMaster.com
Nation Master is a huge central data source where you can graphically compare nations. Here you can generate maps, graphs and statistics with ease. It is a one-stop resource for statistics spanning a wide variety of subjects.

10) Newseum.org
The Newseum displays the front pages of major newspapers across the United States and across the globe. If you enjoy staying up on the news, this is the place to go. There are also trivia facts and fun and games.

11) FARK.com
FARK is the destination for unusual news. It picks up stories of an unusual nature and reports it (with a bit of humorous commentary). Always good for a laugh or a grunt.
12) Playa Cofi Jukebox
Hundreds of songs celebrating our musical heritage. You can choose the genre your interested in from 1950 on. A great place to reminisce musically.
13) Optical Illusions
This website will wow you. They offer 83 optical illusions and visual phenomena. You don't have to be a scientist to enjoy this sight but it is a scientific site. Awesome stuff.
14)Oddcast
This is a fun site. You type in a phrase and the character will say it aloud with whatever accent you choose. I like swearing with a British accent.

Another fun place. You can play with a realistic looking spider, play the snake game or breakdance. The kids will love it too.

It's a site that plays 20 questions with you, only that it is a computer that is doing the guessing, and it learns from all the previous questions. Sometimes, the computer is so accurate that it's spooky. And, from the blog, it seems that there is going to be a new gameshow dedicated to it.

This is really a great hub! Because of you I recently discovered the Google Earth and now the Google Maps website and I must say the "street view" is quite addictive! haha.I'm a long way from home and it's nice to see familiar places from home. :) Plus I told my mom I was stalking her and sent her a picture of her house. Talk about hilarious!
I'm also a fan of Hodar & NASA now. That kinda stuff is just interesting to me.

It's dedicated to the arts - cinema, musis, theater, photography and is an amazing hang out for culture freaks like me.

Intellicast is a really good one. It is great informative hub, and thanks for sharing it with us. However all the remaining sites are also pretty cool as well little bit different from the web sites we often come across. I hope you will continue this and introduce some great stuff of the Internet.

Google Maps now offers a street-level view. you grab the little yellow man and place it down on a street and if the area is enabled you can see someone's house. This is a great tool for exploring areas one may not have the chance to visit.
